실제 회화에서 자주 사용하는 idiom 100개와 그에 대한 한국어 의미 및 예문을 정리해보았다.

Idiom은 직역을 할 경우 그 의미가 제대로 전달되지 않고, 전혀 엉뚱한 의미가 되는 경우가 많다.

예를 들어, 아래 나오는 예문 중 Break a leg on your performance tonight!을 직역 할 경우, ‘오늘 밤 네 공연에서 다리를 부러뜨려’ 가 되지만, Break a leg라는 idiom을 안다면 ‘오늘 밤 네 공연에 행운을 빈다’ 라는 의미로 제대로 해석 할 수 있게 된다.

따라서 idiom도 Phrase verb와 같이 신경써서 공부를 해야 한다.
